AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT announced from $479
After the exciting launch of the AMD Radeon RX 6800 series and Radeon RX 6900 XT, it’s time to check out some of the more affordable members of the Radeon RX 6000 series based on the RDNA2 graphics architecture. The Radeon RX 6700 XT is here.
The AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT is based on the same RDNA2 architecture as the previously announced AMD Radeon RX 6800 series, but based on a smaller Navi 22 die that packs less cores and Infinity Cache, allowing AMD to offer it at a rather significantly lower price point.
AMD reworked the reference cooler design for the AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT, lobbing off one fan and resorting to a trio of heatpipes to wick heat away from the GPU, instead of using a more expensive vapor chamber design. AMD will still be using the same graphite thermal pad here.
It does find itself in a rather weird position though, as AMD claims that the card is on par or slightly faster than the GeForce RTX 3070 in a short list of titles at 1440p. Right now, if we go by AMD’s results, they have three cards between the GeForce RTX 3080 and GeForce RTX 3070 in terms of performance, and yet the AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT is priced between the GeForce RTX 3070 and RTX 3060 Ti cards.
It does stand to reason that the Radeon RX 6700 XT might be the go-to value gaming graphics card from AMD. In terms of pricing, it is a good 17% more affordable, while being 33% smaller (in terms of core count) than the Radeon RX 6800, which is my favorite GPU in the current RDNA2 lineup. The Navi 22 GPU in the Radeon RX 6700 XT is clocked quite a bit faster though, which should help with things.

Pokdepinion: My favorite GPUs are usually the mid-range cards, and the AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT does seem right up my alley.
